The underrated list of happiness

Often times there’s an avouch among people on happiness needing to be from something extremely huge.

To get a promotion.

To get a salary hike.

To get a high-paying job.

To be settled with fewer ‘issues or crises’.

To do a whole lot of costly adventurous stuff and the list goes on and on.

Obviously, those kinds of milestones matter in one’s life and can be a great catalyst for happiness, but that doesn’t need to come at the cost of sacrificing every other tiny moments we have. And denying every other kind of happy moments is such a bad idea.

As a person what matters most is the minutest forms of wins and satisfaction in our daily lives. Of which it adds up to how as a person we tend to perceive and accept the rest of our matters.

Here’s a list that made me in glee, I hope that these can be relatable to you too.

  • Lying in the lap of your mother in prayer mat after the noon prayers where the tender evening sunlight gleams through the windows. Talking on matters that may seem so unimportant to a third person, but which matters a lot to your relationship with her. To not worry about anything that’s happening in life yet to seek solutions to problems that you have no clue on how to deal with.
  • Having deep and influencing kinds of conversations with people. When you can finally vent out a lot of thoughts you’ve never ever expressed to someone else before. To finally feel this sense of relief by listening to another person that it’s not just you who thinks so weirdly. And that most of the people go through everything you thought that ‘only happens to you’.
  • To relish the taste of your favorite food which you’ve been wishing to eat for a long time. To realize that at that moment, there’s nothing else that matters. To feel the right proportion and blend of ingredients.
  • Experimenting with something new ( books of a different genre/movie in a new language/food of another country or place ) and that turning out to be a good choice.
  • There’s always two or three of our favorite dresses, when wearing upon we feel so confident of ourselves. To put on a new dress and realizing that it has already become our favorite one. Which you’ll never get bored of wearing.
  • Tiny acts of kindness from people: that time when you were a stranger in a room and then someone there welcomed you and made you feel at ease, the dear friend of yours who lend a hand to finish your chores so that you don’t get overwhelmed with a lot of things to do, a random person who offered you a smile in the bus/train when you were having an utterly bad day which spoke to you ‘I see you, this too shall pass, don’t let hope run out of you’, or when people give you recommendations on books/movies/podcasts/music, etc. saying that this is your type and you’ll definitely like it and you end up loving it so much.
  • Small wins that pass along the way that you never thought would be possible — finishing that assignment or submission that you were so much worried about, making up to a week on your workout plans, completing a book after managing through a busy time by finding tiny specks of time here and there.

How would your underrated happiness list look like? Would it be a never-ending one?
